To celebrate the Queen’s 60th Jubilee, on Friday 1st June, the pupils and staff at the Academy will be holding a Jubilee street party and crown parade.
Throughout the week leading up to the event, the children will be learning all about the Jubilee and what it means for people all around the world. On the Friday, the children will enjoy a traditional cream-tea style mid-morning break of cream scones and strawberry jam. They will then take part in a street party in the afternoon complete with entertainers, party food, competitions, live music and much more!
We will also be holding a Jubilee Parade to see which child has designed the most original Jubilee crown. The winning King and Queen will receive a prize and have the honour of sitting on the top table.
We will not be serving the usual hot meal day on the day. Instead each child will receive a special Jubilee themed lunch box full of wholesome party food. The cost will be £1.70 (no charge for free school dinners).
Children can come into school wearing their crowns and dressed in their own Jubilee-style clothes although anything red, white and blue will do. We do though want the children to look ‘posh’ so no football tops, track suits or trainers please. If your child wants to come in their own clothes, a donation of £1 would be much appreciated. This will cover the costs for organising the cream scones, entertainment, bunting, balloons, prizes etc. You don’t have to pay this of course, but by doing so it shows us that you appreciate and support all that we try and do ‘extra’ for the children. It will certainly encourage us to put on more events in the future if we know we can rely on your continued support! Thank you.
Please note that if you buy into the 2012 June Meal Deal offer then the Jubilee meal will be included. You do not need to pay the extra £1.70!
