On Tuesday 2nd December, Year One had a fantastic day out at Conkers Discover Centre in Derbyshire. The visit was linked to Year 1’s Far, Far Away NICER challenge. The children will use this experience to help them to write stories with a forest setting.

During their visit, the teachers and children had a very enjoyable walk around the forest, found their way around the gigantic maze, fed the ducks, met baby owls and had a play in the adventure playground.

They then took the train for a ride over to the Waterside, where the children took part in the ‘Robin’s Winter Warmer’ activities.  They enjoyed making Robin puppets, listening to a story by the Elves, having a drink and a home-made cookie. The highlight of their trip was meeting Santa and receiving their gift!

A great day was had by all!
