The children in Year 1 have been working particularly hard this half term, making sure that they meet their challenge linked to their NICER Curriculum project entitled ‘Far, Far Away’.
The children’s’ challenge was to think of a way which allows the three Billy Goats Gruff to cross the water without getting wet. The children have been very busy researching various ways to enable the goats to travel across the water safely.
The children have successfully met their challenge and have been rewarded by taking part in a Year 1 Pyjama Party. The party was held on Friday 29th November in the Drama Studio. The children were encouraged to bring in soft toys, their favourite book and of course their pyjamas. The children had the opportunity to hear their teachers reading their favourite stories and enjoying their night time treats of milk and biscuits.
As an extra special treat the children visited Telford Wonderland on Monday 2nd December. They were able to meet all their favourite traditional fairytale characters and meet Santa’s Elves; their favourite Elf was named ‘Big Ears’. Everyone had fun at the fair and trying to find one another in the fairytale maze was a very difficult task – guess who got lost more than once?
Since returning from Wonderland the children in Year 1 have been thinking about their enterprise task to sell at the Christmas Fair. The children have been busy making yummy gingerbread houses with lots of delicious icing and sweet decorations on top. The children took part in gingerbread house making masterclasses with our school Catering Manager Mrs Thompson.
