On Thursday 23rd January, eight children from Years 3 and 4 took part in an inter-school tennis tournament hosted at Shireland Collegiate Academy.
Cape Primary, St Phillips, St Matthews and Victoria Park Academy were split up into two teams of four children. The children took part in many multi skills activities using a tennis ball and a racket. The main aim of the session was to teach the children various tennis skills and by using these skills, it was hoped that the teams would pick up as many points as possible by the end of the morning.
Our children used their collaboration and resilience skills perfectly and they were GREAT sports ambassadors for the school. By the end of the tournament VPA had accumulated the highest combined school total out of the four schools. However, the teams were ranked as individuals to gain medal positions; therefore, a team from St Phillips came first winning Gold medals and VPA’s Green team came second winning Silver medals.
Well done to all of the children who took part – we are VERY proud of your efforts.
