The members of our School Council have decided to take part in an initiative called ‘Micro-Tyco’. Micro-Tyco is a unique business challenge that is open to all schools Worldwide. Our School Council have been busy planning certain fund raising initiatives, whereby some have already begun. All of the money generated from the Micro-Tyco Challenge will then be invested by ‘WildHearts’ in micro-loans to help the world’s poorest people work their own way out of poverty – with dignity and self-respect. As a result of taking part in this initiative, children will go from becoming a Dynamic Wealth Creator to a Global Ethical Investor.
Micro-Tyco gives the School Council £1 for each team. We have 2 teams taking part. The idea is that we are given £1 per team and we need to generate as much money as possible: by fundraising, bribing, by way of donations, borrowing, making or selling – whatever we can do to make our money grow.
The initiative is a social enterprise scheme and will help the School Council and other children discover skills they never knew they had thus enabling them to learn about enterprise and teamwork and to develop leadership skills.
Over the next few weeks our School Council will be hosting various events to help raise money for this worthy cause. They will be offering a lunch break ‘Movie Time’, a Non-uniform Day, Cake Bake, Guess the Goodies in a Basket Competition and holding a fantastic Raffle to name but a few!
To help you put yourself in the right frame of mind, ask yourself this, if your child challenged you to grow £1, what would you do? The possibilities are endless! We really need your support to generate as much money as we can to help others less fortunate than ourselves.
We are all really looking forward to all the exciting events that our School Council team have planned for us.
Raffle tickets are now on sale priced at 50p per ticket to win a basket of goodies; children can purchase tickets in school and the draw will take place on Friday 13th February during assembly time.
Friday will also be a non-uniform day and there will be a ‘Movie Time’ session set up in the dance studio at dinner time. Both of these events will cost 50p for the children to take part in; class teachers will collect your child’s money.
When we return to school on Monday 23rd February, we will be selling raffle tickets which will be available to all of our families at the cost of £1. All families and staff from Victoria Park and other organizations will be able to buy tickets and the winner will be drawn during an assembly on Friday 27th February.
There will be a Cake Bake Sale at school on the 24th February in the dining hall during morning break time. There will also be Mehndi/Tattoo Art during the latter part of the week (date & time TBC.) We are hoping to take part in ‘Bag Packing’ at ASDA on Friday the 27th Feb from approx. 1.00pm.
Please remember all monies raised will be given to ‘WildHearts’ Charity towards the Micro-Tyco Challenge, to help families all over the World to have a better quality of life. Please support us in these events so that we can help others to help themselves with self-respect and dignity!
