This Week our Reception classes have been researching the subject of Christianity and comparing it to other religions which children observe in their class. The children and staff visited St Matthews church on Windmill Lane, where the children had a checklist to help them to recognise items in the church including; the pews, a cross, the lectern, a bible to name but a few. The children met with the vicar and were able to ask questions and listen to some interesting information; they also looked at religious artefacts including a stained glass window and mosaic pictures.
Back in class the children have labelled pictures, used the computer program Purple Mash to help them to draw a church. They have made their own stained glass windows and written sentences about what they saw.
