It’s that time of year again where the whole school embarks on our ‘Big Adventure’. We have previously travelled on board a steam train in Bewdley, a river boat in Stratford, we took a nostalgic, vintage bus ride around Smethwick and Birmingham en route to Cannon Hill Park and last year we visited Edgmond Hall in Shropshire.
The ‘Big Adventure’ this year is all about Flight and Planes! As much as we would love to take 465 children up into the sky for a ride on a plane, this is sadly not possible. However, we have come as close to this as we can possibly get. On Tuesday 15th September, the whole school will be heading over to Shifnal in Shropshire to RAF Cosford; allowing the children to get up close and personal with aircrafts from history. They will take part in various workshops and activities linked to flying and undertake a 4D plane experience where the children will experience what it is like to be inside an aeroplane.
In return for the visit, there are some tasks that the children need to undertake on behalf of staff at RAF Cosford. With all of the visitors that have been there over the last year, a lot of lost property has been collected and unclaimed. This has been sorted and put into boxes and bags by the RAF staff. The children will be asked to try and work out who the items might belong to; to find out why these people might have been at RAF Cosford and to see if they have enough clues to get in touch with these people to find out where in the world they are now – and indeed, if they want their belongings back?
We are looking forward to a fun day out at RAF Cosford; with lots of interesting and informative activities for the whole school to take part in!
