As part of Year 2’s Up Up and Away ‘NICER’ Challenge; children and staff had the opportunity to visit Birmingham Airport during the month of March. Visits were made to the airport so that the children could encounter this real-life experience. Before making their journey over to Solihull, each child produced their own passport and upon arrival at the airport, was able to present their passports to their VPA air hostesses. The children were encouraged to use their imagining tool while flying aboard VPA Airways – it was most unfortunate that the aircraft, in which they were travelling on, came to a very abrupt end – crash landing back at Birmingham Airport – fortunately all passengers and crew were safe!
Also, linked to their Up Up and Away ‘NICER’ Challenge, Year 2 children have recently enjoyed making Mother’s Day biscuits, cards and poems. They made some hot air balloons which the children filled with chocolates to give to their mums.
