The children and staff from Year 2 had a fabulous day out during their recent visit to Tamworth Castle. While they were there, they met the ‘Lady of the House’. They helped her to get the table and fire ready, as all of her servants had gone to London to help members of their family in their plight, fighting the Great Fire of London!
She read a very moving letter to the children which had been sent from her family in London as they described the chaos and despair during the Great Fire. The children also went into the deep dark dungeon and saw some heads rolling – it was gruesome!
It was fair to say that her Ladyship was not at all impressed with our futuristic items of clothing and even told off the female members of staff for wearing, what she referred to as, breeches (trousers!)
