As part of their ”Buckets and Spades” topic, Year 1 set off to Weston Super Mare on Wednesday 22nd May.

The sky looked grey as the children arrived at school ready for their seaside adventure. Armed with flip flops, sunhats and sunglasses the children and teachers made their way to the coach and in no time they were off!

2 hours or so later Yr1 had arrived in Weston; they set up camp for the day on the sandy beach where straight away they began to make giant sandcastles using their buckets and spades. After lunch the children made their way to where the donkeys were situated. In small groups the children were given a donkey ride up and down the beach. All of the children had a go but there were many who were filled with in trepidation!

Later on in the day the children were treated to a yummy ice cream. Shortly after that, both Year 1 teachers were captured and buried in the cold, wet sand however; it did not keep them quiet!

The sun came out eventually and the day ended on a high. The children were completely worn out after a fun filled day and many fell asleep on the journey back (including Miss Whitburn).

A GREAT day was had by ALL!
