Mrs Mahal, VPA’s Learning Mentor, recently took 7 members of our School Council along with members of Devonshire Academy in Smethwick, to visit the Houses of Parliament.The children and staff were given a tour of Westminster Hall and their Tour Guide shared lots of interesting facts including where Henry VIII made his decisions regarding his numerous wives!
The group visited nearby Victoria Park just down the road from Westminster to relax and have their lunch. How ironic that this park should share its name with our very own in Smethwick!After lunch, the children were fortunate enough to visit the House of Commons where the children learnt about the Government’s democratic values, etc. There was a live debate taking place about the NHS. Riveting stuff according to those who attended!
All of the children behaved brilliantly, being a credit to their schools. Mrs Mahal was extremely proud of them all!
