Victoria Park Academy becomes Sandwell’s first Primary Academy on 1st April 2012.
Previously known as Victoria Park Primary, the school has had a chequered history over the past few years. Created in 2002 following the amalgamation of Corbett Infants and Parkside Junior, Victoria Park went into special measures in November 2005. It was removed from category in July 2007 and went on to become and outstanding school following it’s Ofsted inspection in October 2011.
As a result of the successful inspection, the governing body decided to take advantage of the 2010 Academies Act by applying to the Secretary of State to covert to an academy. This would allow the school greater freedom and autonomy.
On 1st April 2012 Victoria Park Primary Academy was born.
