On Monday 19th May after school, a special meeting was held for the parents of our Year 5 children. The meeting was to explain to parents all about what Flip Learning means. The children had previously taken part in a Year 5 Flip Learning Launch Day on Monday 12th May where they were issued with a MathsFlip ‘goodie bag’ comprising of: a highlighter set, a book (from the creators of Horrible Histories) and a calculator ruler! MathsFlip is a yearlong collaborative project between Shireland Collegiate Academy, York University and Victoria Park Academy. Shireland have now issued the first half of the Year 5 children with new laptops so that they can take them home to begin their flip learning topics. Children will be able to watch videos and find out about work before their lessons, thus enabling them to progress further in their maths lessons.
